Back in the day it was about bodybuilding. Putting in the work and grinding hard. Yes they had gear but nothing like we have today. The amounts of gear was nothing compaired to the amount people are running now.

Look at Robbie Robinson in his prime and today. No GH/Slin gut on this boss.

We can see the progression of bodybuilding and the dependency that has been placed on more and more drugs. Check out the pictures below and tell me which of the guys you think looks the best. Today or guys from back in the day.

No doubt about it, old school was way better. I don't think you should be able to even step on stage with one of those insulin bellies.

Frank Zane was always my favorite and the first gay BB to come out Bob Paris.
    Those two always looked great.
Size wise was Lee Priest was my top guy along with Kevin Leverone.
Nasser, Dillelt, Dorian, Tom Platz ( Mr. Wheels himself ), Chris Cormier, Flex Wheeler they all were huge for my era 80's early 90's
From there most of those guys looked nothing like today's open class

I don’t know that I had one particular era I found to be the golden reign. I like aspects of the greats, Zane, Haney, Paris, Priest, Platz.

They all had aspects that stood out way beyond others of their time and to this day.

I have found my self looking at guys that still in Their old age look fucking amazing, like Zane, Robinson and others. Maybe because I feel like the guys that did it in their prime though amazingly tough fizzed out quick or maybe it’s because I don’t want to give up yet and want to keep at it in my 70-80’s.

I’m lucky to have a few guys in one of my gyms that r into the late 50’s and another that is 75. They both r beasts in the gym, they look amazing, they work out hard still, and still show a zeal and passion for it.

I want to be there at their age.

I think we will see that the guys from the 80's and 90's will still be around long after some of these new guys are long gone. For example check out Justin Compton. He was knocking on the door at the Olympia just a few years ago and now he has retired from the stage. He hasn't released any information but it makes one wonder what happened?
